Diving & Snorkelling
If you’re an experienced diver or just want to try it for the first time, Barbados is the perfect island from which to dive.
Barbados is a first class based for a diving holiday in the Caribbean. The crystal clear waters which surround the island are packed with sea life. Coral reefs and shipwrecks provide the ideal environment for marine life to thrive. Plus, there are miles of gorgeous coastline and superb weather; all helping to explain why scuba diving holidays in Barbados are so popular.
If this is your first time diving, don’t worry. The best diving spots on Barbados are accessible beginners and experienced divers alike, and companies all over the island offer facilities such as guided trips, scuba diving lessons and equipment hire. They can help you to explore popular sites like Maycocks Bay, Dottins, Shark Bank and Bell Buoy. Here you’ll be diving amongst Stingray, Manta rays, Barracuda, Angelfish, Grouper, Parrotfish, Triggerfish and Seahorses.
If you’re not quite ready for the full scuba diving experience, head for the west coast of the island. Here the waters are clear and calm, and you don’t need to go far from the shore before you can snorkel and enjoy the underwater sea life.
Popular on everyone’s list of things to do in Barbados, is a catamaran trip out to the coral reef at Folkestone Marine Park, where you can swim amongst endangered sea turtles that are tame enough to be fed and touched.
